John W. Stanifer, MD

John W Stanifer, MD, MS, grew up on a farm in rural east Tennessee, in the Appalachian Hills. He received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Wake Forest University and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He trained in combined Internal Medicine and Global Health at Duke University, and he completed sub-specialty training in Nephrology at Duke University, during which he also completed an advanced fellowship in clinical research, ultimately serving as Chief Fellow at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He joined Munson Nephrology in January 2019. 
John enjoys golfing in the summer months, hiking and biking riding with his 2 daughters, and snow skiing in the winter months.
