About William A. Austin
Dr. Austin is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult hip and knee reconstruction with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. Born and raised in Northern Michigan, Dr. Austin is passionate about caring for the local population. Traveling regularly to speak and work with top surgeons throughout the US, he has dedicated his life to learning the most advanced surgical techniques available and bringing them to the small towns of Northwest Michigan. “As a lifelong learner, I insist on bringing the highest level of expertise and evidence based practice to my patients in their hometown.”
After receiving his MD degree from Wayne State University and completing residency at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Dr. Austin completed a 1 year fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at West Virginia University learning advanced primary and revision techniques as well as gaining extensive training in robotic assisted surgery. “I believe that people in the small towns of Northwest Michigan deserve to have access to the most advanced joint replacement techniques available. One approach is not right for every patient. Therefore I cater my surgical technique to each individual patient’s anatomy.”
Dr. Austin enjoys spending time with his wife Kyrsten and his golden retriever Rosie. He also enjoys waterskiing, wrenching on cars, and the outdoors.
