About Anne M. Pawlak
Dr. Anne M. Pawlak, a Detroit native from the Polish west side, is a distinguished neurologist with a deep passion for teaching and patient care. With credentials as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Neurology (DFACN), and Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), Dr. Pawlak has made significant contributions to the field of neurology.
Dr. Pawlak's favorite part of practicing medicine is teaching. She believes that patients become empowered when they understand their disease, enabling them to take charge of their health. She has also imparted her knowledge to countless residents in neurology and finds it thrilling to help shape young minds into great doctors.
Choosing neurology was a heartfelt decision for Dr. Pawlak. When she began her career, the field offered limited treatment options, focusing mainly on diagnosis. She felt a strong compassion for patients who needed guidance on their journeys. As neurology evolved with new therapies, particularly for conditions like multiple sclerosis, Dr. Pawlak became part of that transformative period. She finds great fulfillment in combining compassion with effective treatment.
"I want future patients and referring providers to know my deep commitment and love for my profession. I truly love what I do and would choose this path again without hesitation. I am passionate about the detective work involved in diagnosing and treating patients. Being a doctor is a privilege, and I emphasize the profound responsibility of having a life in my hands."
On a personal note, Dr. Pawlak is happily married for 40 years and has one son, both of whom she considers blessings in her life. She also has a golden retriever, her "furry son." An avid cook, she enjoys making delicious treats like chocolate chip cookies and rum cake.
