Caitlin Payne, MD

Caitlin Payne, MD, MBA, is a neurosurgeon specializing in cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve conditions. A Michigan native from Houghton in the Upper Peninsula, she is passionate about serving patients in northern Michigan and helping improve access to specialized care in rural communities. 

Dr. Payne treats a wide range of neurological conditions. Her approach combines advanced surgical expertise with thoughtful clinical judgment, always focusing on what is best for each individual patient. She believes that exceptional care begins with clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring patients and their families fully understand their options for treatment. 

"My goal is to give people more quality time. Neurosurgical patients and their families are often facing some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. It is a privilege to care for my patients, and I strive to provide steadiness, honesty, and compassion," she says.

Outside of work, Dr. Payne enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and dog, enjoying Michigan's lakes and visiting family across the state. She also enjoys good coffee, making her house a home, and embracing the outdoor traditions she grew up with in the Upper Peninsula.
