Charles W. Whittaker, DO

Charlie Whittaker, DO, was born and raised in Silverthorne, Colorado. 

Dr. Whittaker chose family medicine because it allows him to care for the whole person across every stage of life, from newborns to older adults.  

“I value the privilege of forming long-term relationships with people and families. Being able to teach, guide, and empower people on their health journey, while also sharing in their successes and supporting them through challenges, is what makes medicine deeply rewarding for me,” he says. 

Dr. Whittaker has special interests in preventive health, lifestyle medicine, sports medicine, patient education, and chronic disease management. He is especially passionate about helping patients be proactive about their health and wellness. It is important to him to address health disparities and ensure all patients feel respected, understood, and supported in his care.  

Outside of work, Dr. Whittaker enjoys spending time with family and enjoying all that Northern Michigan has to offer. He and his wife, a family physician in Gaylord, are welcoming their first child this fall. They share two dogs and a small flock of backyard chickens and enjoy gardening and other hands-on projects at home. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games and spending as much time as possible with family and friends.
