Darla Balas, NP

Darla Balas is a nurse practitioner with over 10 years of oncology experience and over five years of oncology provider experience. 
Darla completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the Texas A&M Health Science Center and immediately began working inpatient and outpatient as an oncology nurse. After 5 years of nursing experience, she then received her MSN from Georgia State University.
Prior to moving to Michigan, she has worked at two different NCI designated cancer institutions: Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO and Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, Ga.
What she enjoys most is getting to know her patients and trying to make their visits as stress free as possible by listening to their concerns and helping resolve problems.
Darla is constantly amazed at the resiliency of those going through life changing events and is always reminded of the true purpose of life and what really matters.
When away from work, Darla, her husband, and young daughter enjoy playing team sports and hiking with their dog Murphy, as well as spending time with extended family local to Traverse City.
