About E. Grant Carey
E. Grant Carey, MD, is a dedicated orthopedic surgeon with a strong connection to Northern Michigan. Born in Petoskey and raised on the shores of Higgins Lake, Dr. Carey comes from a family that has called Northern Michigan home since the 1940s. A Roscommon High School graduate of 2010, he has deep roots in the community.
Dr. Carey's favorite aspect of practicing medicine is the opportunity to meet and build trust with a diverse array of individuals. He considers it an honor and privilege to be entrusted with their medical care. This profound connection with patients is a driving force in his career.
Specializing in Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Carey is passionate about restoring mobility and alleviating pain, helping patients reclaim their ability to live and move freely. His subspecialty training in Sports, Shoulder, and Elbow Surgery reflects his personal experiences as a high school and collegiate athlete. He understands the importance of sports and is dedicated to helping people return to their favorite activities, whether on the court, field, or trail.
Dr. Carey is thrilled to return to Northern Michigan to practice with the Munson Orthopedic Institute. He is eager to join a team of exceptional surgeons committed to providing world-class care to the community. "Being entrusted to provide medical care to an individual is an honor and privilege unlike any other," says Dr. Carey.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Carey enjoys a rich personal life with his wife, who is also an orthopedic surgeon in residency. They share their home with two Australian Shepherds, Lenny and Walker. Together, they relish spending time with family, engaging in sports, and exploring the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.
