About Emily L. Levin
Emily Levin, MD, FAANS, is a New Orleans native excited to make Traverse City home.
A passion for learning how things work originally led Dr. Levin to gravitate toward a career in engineering—and a passion for working with people inspired her career in neurosurgery.
Dr. Levin calls on her engineering background when determining a plan of action for her patients, including finding the best way to use technology to improve outcomes— whether that’s less invasive surgical techniques or using devices to improve a patient’s function.
Ultimately, it’s helping people that Dr. Levin likes the most about her career in medicine.
“I love having the opportunity to make people feel better, whether that’s with a smile, an open ear, or with my medical and surgical training,” she says.
Her treatment approach includes working with each patient to determine the best plan for them, which can include operative or non-operative treatment.
Dr. Levin attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed an internship in general surgery and her residency in neurological surgery at University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. She completed a fellowship in neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Levin is married with two children. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, strength training, and spending time outdoors with her family.
