About Kathryn S. Shaffer
Growing up in rural Minnesota, Kathryn Shaffer, MD, CLC, FAAFP. knew she wanted to raise her family and develop roots within a small community like Traverse City.
Dr. Shaffer practices medicine with a strong value in serving her patients and community. She has a special interest in women’s health, including obstetrics, pediatrics, LGBTQ+, and mental health. She is also a certified lactation counselor, enabling her to better help postpartum breastfeeding mothers and infants succeed and thrive in the first critical weeks.
“I want my patients to know I am thorough, thoughtful, warm-hearted, and diligent. One of the most intimate relationships a person can have is one with their physician. I feel privileged to be able to build those relationships and care for my patients.”
Dr. Shaffer is married with one daughter and a dog. On the weekends she loves to bake with her daughter as well as stay active through yoga, swimming, running, cycling, hiking, and more.
