About Michael H. Stargardt
Michael Stargardt, DO, was raised in Charlevoix, Michigan. Growing up, his best friend’s father was a family physician in the community. Watching his impact on others. Dr. Stargardt hoped to follow a similar path.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees at Alma College with majors in Biology and Spanish and a minor degree in Chemistry. After being awarded a National Health Service Corps scholarship, he attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then moved to Detroit to complete his internship at Grace Hospital before starting residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, graduating in 2001.
After residency, Dr. Stargardt went on to practice pediatrics in Port Huron for four years, followed by a return to Children’s Hospital of Michigan for a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. He then began work as a pediatric critical care physician for 13 years at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. As an appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Central Michigan University College of Medicine, Dr. Stargardt served to educate residents and medical students while caring for patients in the pediatric intensive care unit. From 2015 to 2021, he practiced general pediatrics in Sterling Heights.
Dr. Stargardt has traveled to Latin America on medical mission trips as a part of medical teams delivering surgical assistance to pediatric patients in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Colombia.
“I enjoy working with families and pediatric patients as they navigate all aspects of health, from newborn age to young adulthood,” he says.
Dr. Stargardt lives with his wife, Sarah who is a special education teacher in Manistee County. He enjoys all things outdoors: cycling, running, and skiing.
