Personal athletic injuries during his NCAA Division-I College Hockey career led to his passion for orthopedics and greatly influenced his career decision. “As an Orthopedic Surgeon I have the unique privilege of treating patients to restore their function and mobility, reduce pain and ultimately improve their quality of life," he says. Dr. VanWagner was born and raised in Traverse City. He is married to Dr. Angela VanWagner, an Emergency Medicine Physician at Munson Medical Center. They enjoy spending time on the water, road cycling, skiing, hiking, and spending time with family. About returning to northern Michigan, he says, "it’s an honor to return home to Northern Michigan and provide exceptional, compassionate orthopedic care to this remarkable community”.
