About Richard N. Tooley
Dr. Richard Tooley is a fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon on medical staff at Munson Medical Center. Dr. Tooley has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal malignancies. Providing a high-level of care close to home, the colorectal care team has enhanced surgical care and outcomes including advances in minimally invasive surgery and robotics.
From treating cancer to common anorectal ailments, Dr. Tooley is focused on improving the quality of life for individuals. "By far the most rewarding aspect of medicine for me is the personal connections that are made with patients and the positive impact that I can have in their health and well-being."
Dr. Tooley moved to Traverse City after his father's retirement from the Air Force. He returned after surgical training with his wife who is a cardiologist. "We enjoy the four seasons, all the amazing beauty of this area, and feel privileged to have raised a family here." In his free time, Dr. Tooley enjoys hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and anything on, in, or under water. He also loves to spend time with his family and complete landscaping and home remodeling projects.
